Lower Cape Curling Club COVID-19 Policies and Procedures Winter 2022

The Lower Cape Curling Club (LCCC) is committed to the health and wellness of our members and creating a safe playing environment for them to enjoy the sport of curling. These club policies and procedures have been developed based on guidance from USA Curling, GNCC, Curl Canada, the CDC and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All members choosing to curl shall adhere to these policies and procedures. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in loss of curling privileges.

General

  • If you have symptoms of COVID or are not feeling well, please stay home.

Set Up/Breakdown

  • A member of the ice crew will be responsible for pebbling the ice.

  • The two teams playing on Sheet 1, will be designated each week to be responsible for set up.

  • If your team is designated for set up, plan to arrive at the rink no later than 30 minutes before your games time. If your team is not designated for set up, please plan to arrive at the rink no later than 15minutes before the start of your game.

  • All members should assist with breaking down their sheet (putting stones and scoreboard away, removing hacks) at the completion of their game.

Curling

  • Handshakes are discouraged, but Curlers should wish “Good Curling” to their teammates and opponents.

  • Each player will be assigned two (or three) rocks. Keep track of your stone numbers and color. No player should touch the handles of rocks belonging to another player. To move rocks that are considered out of play, a player should use their broom and/or foot.

  • There are no restrictions on the number of sweepers.

  • All USCA General Rules for Curling apply, unless noted in the LCCC League Rules and Regulations.

Post Curling

  • Traditional broomstacking will be permitted. When possible, it is recommended that broomstacking take place outside and/or social distancing is observed. Broomstacking in the area outside the snack

  • bar is acceptable to be able to socially distant.

  • If you test positive for COVID, please contact the Club President immediately. Member should not

    return to curling until symptom free.

    due to an outbreak (in-club, local or state); if new arena or Massachusetts guidelines prevent us from curling; or if new guidelines force us to curl in

    a limited capacity.

This document will be reviewed at minimum on a monthly basis. The club, at the board’s discretion, may change these policies and procedures or stop the season at any time
